HIPI will assist MSU researchers in gaining access to data at the U.S. Census
Research Data Center (RDC) in Ann Arbor. The RDC provides a secure environment
where researchers have access to confidential and unpublished economic and
demographic micro-data, with appropriate safeguards to protect data
confidentiality. Normally, the cost of access for a single project is $15,000.
With support from the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies, HIPI will arrange
that the fee is covered for projects approved by the RDC and Census Bureau.
For more information about the RDC and the data stored there,
please visit their website: U.S. Census Research Data Center
Read a message from our Interim Co-Directors concerning the RDC.
The Census 2000 Project is located at Michigan State University. This project aims to provide researchers with demographic information for the state of Michigan. Please visit their website for more information.
HIPI has some funds to assist researchers in purchasing data.
Priority for these funds will be given to graduate students and researchers that can demonstrate the data will likely lead to grant submissions. Contact the directors if you are interested in applying for these funds.
These requests are considered whenever funds are available.
